I’m Cy Sorensen, the artist behind Minimal Palette—a studio dedicated to exploring the quiet strength of simplicity through both watercolor and oil paints. My work balances fluidity with structure, using restrained palettes and layered techniques to create portraits, landscapes, and compositions that feel intimate, timeless, and contemplative.
Drawing inspiration from human presence, the natural world, and the overlooked rhythms of daily life, I approach painting as both a technical craft and an emotional language. Whether through the transparency of watercolor or the depth of oil, each piece emphasizes balance—between precision and looseness, detail and atmosphere, silence and expression.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I offer both original works and custom commissions. My current series, Hidden Worlds, explores fragile ecosystems through soft realism and symbolic stillness, while my oil portraits investigate presence, history, and the resonance of the human face.
